How to Change Your Password on Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll is the premier streaming destination for anime, boasting the largest dedicated library in the world. Because premium accounts provide ad-free viewing and access to simultaneous broadcasts directly from Japan, they are frequently targeted by hackers or “borrowed” indefinitely by friends who never get around to buying their own subscription.

If you suspect someone is using your account without permission, if you have received a notification about suspicious login activity, or if you are simply practicing good digital hygiene by rotating your passwords, you need to update your Crunchyroll credentials.

You cannot change your account security settings through the Crunchyroll app on your smart TV, PlayStation, or Xbox. You must use a web browser on a computer or your smartphone to access the necessary settings menu.

Method 1: Change Your Password (If You Know It)

If you are already logged in and simply want to update your password to a more secure phrase, follow these steps:

1. Open a web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge) and go to crunchyroll.com.
2. If you are not already logged in, click the Profile icon in the top-right corner and select Log In. Enter your current email and password.
3. Once logged in, click your Profile icon in the top-right corner again.
4. From the drop-down menu, select My Account.
5. On the account dashboard, look at the left-hand navigation menu and click on Change Password. (If you are on a mobile browser, you may need to tap a menu button to reveal this sidebar).
6. You will be presented with three text boxes.
7. Enter your Current password in the top box.
8. Enter your New password in the middle box. Ensure it is strong and not used on any other website.
9. Re-enter your new password in the bottom box to confirm it.
10. Click the orange Change Password button.

Your password is now updated. Important Note: Crunchyroll’s system can sometimes take up to 24 hours to automatically force a logout on other devices (like a Roku or a mobile app) that were previously logged in with the old password. Changing the password stops new logins immediately, but existing active sessions may linger temporarily.

Method 2: Reset Your Password (If You Are Locked Out)

If you cannot remember your password and are completely locked out of your account, you will need to use the password recovery tool. You must have access to the email address associated with your Crunchyroll account.

1. Go to crunchyroll.com.
2. Click the Profile icon in the top-right corner and select Log In.
3. On the login screen, click the link that says Forgot Password?.
4. Enter the Email address you used to sign up for Crunchyroll.
5. Click the Submit button.
6. Open your email inbox in a new tab. Look for an email from Crunchyroll with the subject line “Reset Your Crunchyroll Password.” (If you do not see it within five minutes, check your Spam or Junk folder).
7. Open the email and click the Reset Password button inside.
8. A new webpage will open. Enter your New password.
9. Click Submit.

Troubleshooting: I Am Not Receiving the Reset Email

If you request a password reset but the email never arrives, it usually means one of two things:

1. You used a different email address: It is incredibly common to sign up for a service using an older email address and forget about it. Try entering any other email addresses you own into the “Forgot Password” tool. Crunchyroll will only send an email if the address matches an active account in their database.

2. Your account was compromised: If a hacker gained access to your account, the very first thing they will do is change the email address associated with the profile. If they change the email address, your password reset request goes to the hacker’s inbox, not yours.

If you suspect your account has been compromised and the email address changed, you cannot fix this yourself. You must immediately contact Crunchyroll Customer Support through their official Help Center. Provide them with your billing information (such as the last four digits of the credit card charged) to prove ownership of the account so they can restore your access.
