The Twitter dark mode is incredibly helpful, especially when you are browsing Twitter at night or want to reduce eye strain. Twitter provides two distinct dark modes: one with a dark blue background and another with a completely black background.
How to Get Twitter Dark Mode on Desktop
To enable dark mode on the Twitter website from your computer:
- In the left sidebar menu, click on More and select Settings and privacy.
- Go to Display, which is listed under the General section.
- Under Background, you will see three options: Default, Dim, and Lights out.
- Choose Dim (for the dark blue background) or Lights out (for the pure black background). You can also pick a highlight colour here if you would like to change from the default Twitter blue colour.
How to Get Twitter Dark Mode on Mobile
To enable dark mode in the Twitter mobile app:
- In the Twitter app, tap your Profile picture at the top left corner to open the menu.
- Scroll down and select Settings and privacy.
- Go to Display and sound, listed under the General section.
- Select Dark mode. You will now see an option to turn the dark mode On or Off.
- Choose your preferred dark theme, selecting either Dim or Lights out.
