Microsoft Office allows you to easily change the language settings within the Office Language Preferences dialog box. You can set both a preferred display language and an authoring language to suit your needs.
How to Change the Language in Microsoft Office
To change the language settings, open any Microsoft Office application (like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) and follow these steps:
- Go to File > Options > Language.
- This will open the Office Language Preferences dialog box.
Change the Display Language
Under the Office display language section, select your preferred display language for buttons, menus, and other UI controls. You can select Match Microsoft Windows [Language] if you want the Office display language to automatically match your Windows system display language.
Change the Authoring Language and Proofing Tools
Under the Office authoring languages and proofing section, select a language for creating and editing documents. This includes proofing tools such as spelling and grammar checks.
If the language you want is not listed, click Add a language and select your desired language from the Add an authoring language dialog box.
If the installed language pack has proofing tools included, its status will show as Proofing installed. If the status shows Proofing available, it means the proofing tools are available for download for that language. Simply click that link and install the proofing tools for that language to ensure your spelling and grammar checks work correctly.
