How to Turn Off the App Tracking Permission Prompts on iPhone

The Tracking Request Vector

Apple enforces a strict privacy framework known as App Tracking Transparency. By default, any application installed on your iPhone that wishes to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites must explicitly ask for your permission first. Consequently, newly installed social media apps, games, and shopping utilities frequently trigger an aggressive, full-screen pop-up asking if you want to “Allow Tracking.” If your answer is universally no, these constant requests become a severe disruption to the user experience.

How to Turn Off App Tracking Prompts

You can instruct iOS to globally deny all tracking requests at the system level, preventing the pop-up boxes from ever appearing on your screen.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down and tap on Privacy & Security.
3. At the top of the menu, tap on Tracking.
4. Locate the master toggle switch labelled Allow Apps to Request to Track.
5. Tap the toggle to switch it to the Off position (the switch will turn grey).
6. If you have previously allowed any apps to track you, a prompt will appear asking if you want to ask those apps to stop tracking you as well. Select Ask Apps to Stop Tracking.

Your iPhone will now automatically intercept and deny every future tracking request in the background. Applications will simply assume they have been denied, and you will never see the pop-up prompt again.
