If a specific website is acting glitchy, throwing errors, or refusing to log you in, the fastest fix is usually clearing your browser cookies. However, clearing all your cookies will log you out of every single website you use. Fortunately, both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge allow you to delete cookies for just one specific domain, leaving the rest of your browsing session perfectly intact.
How to Clear Cookies for One Site in Mozilla Firefox
Firefox makes this incredibly simple directly from the address bar.
- Navigate to the specific website you want to fix (e.g., netflix.com).
- Look at the address bar at the top of the browser. Click the small padlock icon on the far-left side of the URL.
- In the dropdown menu that appears, click on Clear cookies and site data…
- A prompt will appear showing the cookies for that specific domain. Click the Remove button.
- Refresh the webpage. You will likely need to log into the site again.
(Alternatively, you can go to Firefox Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage Data… and use the search bar to find and delete the specific site).
How to Clear Cookies for One Site in Microsoft Edge
Edge requires you to dive slightly deeper into the settings menu to manage specific data.
- Click the three horizontal dots (…) in the top-right corner of the Edge browser and select Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, select Cookies and site permissions.
- Under the “Cookies and data stored” section, click on Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Click on See all cookies and site data. You will now see a massive list of every website storing data on your PC.
- Use the “Search cookies” bar in the top right to type in the name of the broken website.
- The list will filter down to just that domain. Click the trash can icon next to the website’s name to instantly delete its cookies.
- Close the settings tab and refresh the broken website.
