How to Change Your Password on Disney Plus

Securing Your Streaming Account

Disney Plus offers one of the most comprehensive libraries of family entertainment, making it a highly popular service to share across multiple devices and households. However, if you suspect someone is accessing your account without permission, or if you are simply practicing good digital hygiene by rotating your passwords, updating your Disney Plus login credentials is a necessary step.

Unlike some streaming services that allow you to change your password directly from a smart TV app, Disney Plus requires you to use a web browser on a computer or a mobile device to access your account security settings. The process is straightforward, but it relies heavily on email verification to ensure you are the legitimate account owner.

This guide will walk you through the steps to change your password if you know your current one, and how to recover your account if you have been completely locked out.

Method 1: Change Your Password (If You Know It)

If you are currently logged in and simply want to update your password to a stronger one, follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge) on your computer or smartphone and go to disneyplus.com.
  2. If you are not already logged in, click Log In in the top right corner and enter your current credentials.
  3. Once logged in, hover your mouse over your Profile picture in the top right corner of the screen. (On a mobile browser, tap your profile picture in the bottom right).
  4. Click on Account from the drop-down menu.
  5. Under the “Account Details” section, locate the Password line. You will see your current password hidden as a row of dots. Click the pencil icon next to it to edit.
  6. Disney Plus takes security seriously, so it will now send a 6-digit verification code to the email address associated with your account.
  7. Open your email inbox in a new tab, find the email from Disney Plus, and copy the code.
  8. Return to the Disney Plus tab, paste the 6-digit code into the box, and click Continue.
  9. You will now be prompted to enter a New password. Ensure it is strong and not used on any other website.
  10. Important Step: Tick the box that says “Log out of all devices.” This ensures that anyone currently using your account on a TV or tablet will be forcefully disconnected and required to enter the new password.
  11. Click Save.

Your password has now been updated across the entire Disney ecosystem (including Hulu and ESPN+, if you use the Disney bundle).

Method 2: Reset Your Password (If You Are Locked Out)

If you cannot remember your password and are completely locked out of your account, you can use the password recovery tool.

  1. Go to disneyplus.com and click Log In.
  2. Enter the Email address associated with your account and click Continue.
  3. On the password screen, click the link that says Forgot Password?.
  4. Disney Plus will automatically send a 6-digit verification code to your email address.
  5. Check your email inbox, copy the code, and enter it into the Disney Plus website.
  6. Enter a New password.
  7. Tick the box to “Log out of all devices.”
  8. Click Save.

Troubleshooting: I Am Not Receiving the Verification Email

Because Disney Plus relies on email verification for almost all account changes, failing to receive the 6-digit code can be incredibly frustrating. If the email is not arriving, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Check your Spam/Junk folder: The automated email may have been filtered out by your email provider.
  • Wait 15 minutes: Sometimes the Disney servers experience delays. Requesting multiple codes in rapid succession can cause the system to temporarily lock your account for security reasons. Wait 15 minutes before clicking “Resend Code.”
  • Verify your email address: Are you absolutely certain you used this email address to sign up? If you signed up through a third-party provider (like Apple or Roku), your Disney Plus account might be linked to a different, hidden email address.

If you still cannot access your account, you will need to contact Disney Plus customer support directly through their help centre to verify your identity and regain access.
