If you want to un-merge cells or divide data, Excel has several tools to accomplish this.
Splitting Cells
- If the cell is merged, click it, go to the Home tab, and click Merge & Center again to un-merge it.
- If you want to split the actual text (like “John Smith”), select the cell.
- Go to the Data tab and click Text to Columns.
- Follow the wizard to split the data by spaces or commas into adjacent cells.
