Modern web browsers allow websites to send push notifications directly to your desktop, ostensibly to keep you updated on breaking news or new messages. However, in practice, the web notification system is heavily abused. Countless websites display intrusive “allow notifications” pop-ups the moment you load their homepage, and accepting them often leads to a constant barrage of marketing spam or deceptive alerts mimicking system warnings. If you use Microsoft Edge strictly for work, or if you are configuring a computer for a less tech-savvy user who might accidentally agree to malicious prompts, you should revoke the browser’s ability to process these requests entirely.

Disable Notifications via Edge Settings
To silence all websites, you must change the global notification permission within Edge from its default “Ask” state to a strict “Block” state.
- Open Microsoft Edge.
