How to Check CPU Usage in Linux

If your server is running slowly, a runaway process might be maxing out your CPU.

Checking CPU Usage

  1. Open your terminal.
  2. Type top and press Enter to see a live view of running processes.
  3. For a more colorful and readable view, install and type htop.
