How to Disable Siri Voice Feedback on Apple Watch

The Public Conversation

The Apple Watch features a fully integrated version of Siri. By default, when you raise your wrist and ask Siri a question (like “What is the weather?” or “Set a timer”), the virtual assistant will process your request and then loudly speak the answer back to you through the watch’s internal speaker. While this is helpful when you are alone in your kitchen, it is incredibly disruptive if you are in a quiet office, a movie theater, or on public transit. If you want to use the voice assistant silently, you must instruct Siri to only display text on the screen.

How to Turn Off Siri Voice Feedback

You can permanently mute the virtual assistant via the Siri settings.

  1. Open the Settings app directly on your Apple Watch (the grey gear icon).
  2. Scroll down the main list and tap on Siri.
  3. Scroll down to the “Voice Responses” section.
  4. Under the “Siri Responses” heading, tap to select the Always Off option (or “Silent Mode” depending on your watchOS version).

A Silent Assistant

The change is instantaneous. The Apple Watch will completely sever Siri’s connection to the audio hardware. You can still raise your wrist and whisper a command, but Siri will never again speak out loud. Instead, the assistant will silently process your request, execute the action, and simply display a text confirmation or the visual results directly on the watch face, guaranteeing total privacy in public spaces.
