How to Disable Notifications on the Lock Screen in Windows 11

The Visual Security Exploit

Windows 11 utilizes a centralized notification architecture. By default, the operating system is configured to push incoming application alerts (such as unread emails, calendar reminders, or chat messages) directly to the Lock Screen. While this allows you to quickly glance at incoming data without logging in, it is a catastrophic privacy violation in an office environment. Anyone walking past your locked computer can simply look at the monitor and read the subject lines of your highly confidential corporate emails or private messages. You must permanently sever the notification pipeline from the Lock Screen renderer.

How to Disable Lock Screen Notifications

You can permanently paralyze the operating system’s ability to display alerts while locked via the System settings.

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
  2. In the left-hand sidebar, click on System.
  3. In the main window, click on Notifications.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the general notifications toggles.
  5. Locate the checkbox labeled Show notifications on the lock screen.
  6. Uncheck this box.

Absolute Visual Sandboxing

The change takes effect instantly. Windows 11 will completely sever its internal connection between the background notification spooler and the secure desktop environment used for the Lock Screen. The operating system is now technically barred from rendering alerts prior to user authentication. If you receive a sensitive email while away from your desk, the screen will simply display the time and your chosen wallpaper. To view your notifications, you are now strictly required to enter your password or use Windows Hello, guaranteeing absolute visual privacy for your incoming data.
