How to Disable the “End Workout” Reminder on Apple Watch

The Early Stoppage

The Apple Watch actively monitors your accelerometer during a workout. If you are tracking an “Outdoor Run” but you stop at a crosswalk or pause to tie your shoe, the watch’s internal AI often assumes you have finished exercising entirely. It will violently vibrate your wrist and display a massive “End Workout?” prompt. If you accidentally tap “Yes,” or if you simply find the constant interruptions irritating during interval training, this feature completely ruins your ability to accurately track a continuous session. You must strip the AI of its ability to guess when you are finished.

How to Turn Off the End Workout Reminder

You must sever the AI’s ability to interrupt your exercise using the companion Watch app on your iPhone.

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Ensure you are on the My Watch tab at the bottom left.
  3. Scroll down the main list and tap on Workout.
  4. Locate the master toggle switch labeled End Workout Reminder.
  5. Toggle this switch to the Off position (the green background will disappear).

Continuous Tracking

The change is instantaneous. The Apple Watch will completely terminate the background AI algorithm responsible for guessing when you have stopped exercising. You can now stop at a traffic light for five minutes or take a long water break, and the watch will silently continue recording your session in the background. It will never again interrupt you with a prompt; you must now explicitly swipe right and tap “End” to formally close the workout.
