Cloud Site List Management in Microsoft Edge allows enterprise administrators to manage their IE Mode site lists in the cloud rather than on-premises. While this offers convenience, organizations with strict data residency requirements or air-gapped networks may need to ensure this feature is entirely deactivated. This guide explains how to completely disable Cloud Site List Management using Group Policy.
Prerequisites
Ensure you have administrative privileges and the latest Administrative Templates for Microsoft Edge installed in your Group Policy Central Store.
Disable Cloud Site List Management
Open the Group Policy Editor
Press the Windows Key + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter to launch the Local Group Policy Editor.
Navigate to Edge Policies
In the left pane, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge.
Modify the Cloud Site List Policy
Locate the policy named Enable Cloud Site List Management. Double-click it.
Disable the Feature
Set the policy state to Disabled. Click Apply and then OK to save the changes.
Apply the Policy
Open an elevated Command Prompt and run gpupdate /force to ensure the policy is applied immediately.
Verify the Configuration
Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to edge://policy. Verify that the CloudSiteListManagementEnabled policy is listed and its value is set to false. This confirms that the browser will not attempt to fetch or manage site lists from the cloud.
