How to Enable the Windows 11 God Mode Master Settings Folder

Windows 11 scatters its system settings across dozens of different menus. The modern Settings app handles some options, the legacy Control Panel handles others, and some advanced tools are buried so deep inside the operating system that most users never discover them.

There is a hidden trick, informally known as God Mode, that creates a single master folder on your desktop containing direct links to every single setting and administrative tool available in Windows. This folder organises over 200 system settings into clean, alphabetically sorted categories, providing a one-stop dashboard for complete system control.

How to Enable God Mode

God Mode is not an official feature with a toggle switch. It is activated by creating a folder with a specific, coded name that Windows recognises as a command.

  1. Navigate to your Desktop (or any location you prefer).
  2. Right-click on an empty area of the Desktop.
  3. Select New > Folder.
  4. When the new folder appears with its name highlighted and ready to be edited, paste the following exact string as the folder name:
    GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  5. Press Enter.

The folder icon will instantly change from a standard yellow folder to a Control Panel icon. The text “GodMode” before the period becomes the folder’s display name (you can change “GodMode” to any word you like, such as “MasterSettings”, as long as the code after the period remains exactly the same).

What Is Inside the God Mode Folder

Double-click the new icon to open it. Inside, you will find a massive, scrollable list of every administrative setting available in Windows 11, organised into clear categories.

Common categories include:

  • Administrative Tools: Direct links to services like Component Services, Computer Management, Event Viewer, and Disk Cleanup.
  • Backup and Restore: Shortcuts to File History, System Image Backup, and Recovery options.
  • Display: Quick access to screen resolution, text size, multiple display configuration, and colour calibration.
  • Network and Sharing Centre: Direct links to network adapter settings, VPN configuration, and firewall rules.
  • Power Options: Shortcuts to power plan configuration, lid close actions, and sleep timer settings.
  • User Accounts: Links to credential management, account type changes, and Windows Hello configuration.

How to Search Within God Mode

With over 200 items in the folder, scrolling through the entire list can be overwhelming. To find a specific setting quickly:

  1. Open the God Mode folder.
  2. Click the Search box in the top-right corner of the File Explorer window.
  3. Type a keyword related to the setting you need (e.g., “firewall”, “default programs”, or “mouse speed”).

The list will instantly filter to show only the matching results.

Important Considerations

God Mode is simply a convenient shortcut to settings that already exist in your system. It does not unlock any hidden or dangerous capabilities. However, because it provides one-click access to advanced system administration tools (such as disk management and service configuration), it should be used carefully. Making changes to settings you do not fully understand could affect system stability.
