How to Disable “Get tips and suggestions as you use Windows” in Windows 11

The OS-Level Nagging

Windows 11 constantly monitors how you interact with the operating system. If Microsoft’s algorithms determine you aren’t using a specific feature (like the Edge browser, OneDrive, or the Phone Link app), the OS will periodically spawn slide-out notifications in the bottom right corner of your screen. These notifications are officially called “Tips and Suggestions,” but they function entirely as first-party advertisements designed to increase engagement with Microsoft services. For a professional who wants a quiet, distraction-free desktop, this native nagging is unacceptable. You must silence it.

How to Disable Tips and Suggestions

You can permanently sever the operating system’s ability to spawn these marketing notifications via the System settings.

  1. Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
  2. In the left-hand sidebar, ensure you are on the System tab.
  3. Click on Notifications.
  4. Scroll all the way down to the very bottom of the Notifications page and click to expand Additional settings.
  5. Uncheck the box labeled “Get tips and suggestions when I use Windows.”
  6. While here, also ensure “Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows…” is also unchecked.

A Silent Desktop

The change takes effect instantly. Windows 11 will completely terminate the background daemon responsible for analyzing your feature usage and triggering the suggestion engine. The operating system is now technically barred from generating pop-up overlays promoting its own built-in tools. You will still receive legitimate notifications from your installed apps (like Slack or Outlook), but Microsoft’s internal marketing engine is permanently muted, guaranteeing a significantly quieter computing environment.
