The Intrusive Pop-ups
Windows 11 constantly monitors how you use the operating system. If you rarely use the Edge browser, or if you haven’t set up OneDrive, Microsoft will occasionally slide a massive “Tip” or “Suggestion” notification onto the bottom right corner of your screen. These notifications are essentially interactive advertisements designed to funnel you into using Microsoft’s proprietary services. For a power user attempting to maintain a focused workflow, these sudden, visually distracting pop-ups are unacceptable. You must strip the operating system of its ability to offer unsolicited advice.
How to Turn Off Tips and Suggestions
You can permanently silence the recommendation engine via the System settings.
- Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on System.
- In the main window, click on Notifications.
- Scroll all the way down to the absolute bottom of the Notifications page.
- Locate and uncheck the box labeled “Offer suggestions on how I can set up my device.”
- Locate and uncheck the box labeled “Get tips and suggestions when I use Windows.”
A Silent Workspace
The change is instantaneous. Windows 11 will completely terminate the background daemon responsible for analyzing your usage habits and triggering the pop-ups. You will still receive standard, functional notifications from your email client and chat applications, but Microsoft will never again interrupt your workflow with an advertisement disguised as a helpful tip.
