The Intrusive Pop-ups
Windows 11 includes an incredibly aggressive predictive feature called “Suggested Actions.” By default, whenever you use the mouse to highlight and copy a date, a time, or a phone number from an email or a website, the operating system intercepts the clipboard. A large, floating menu instantly pops up near your mouse cursor, offering to create a calendar event in Outlook or place a phone call using Microsoft Teams. If you are simply copying a date to paste it into an Excel spreadsheet, this massive pop-up menu is wildly annoying and frequently blocks the text you are trying to read. You must disable the clipboard interception.
How to Turn Off Suggested Actions
You can completely disable the predictive AI via the system settings.
- Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on System.
- In the main window, scroll down and click on Clipboard.
- Look for the master toggle switch labeled Suggested actions.
- Toggle this switch to the Off position.
A Silent Clipboard
The change takes effect instantly. You can now highlight and copy phone numbers, dates, and times from any document or webpage on your computer. Windows 11 will simply copy the raw text to the clipboard and remain perfectly silent. The intrusive pop-up menu will never appear again, restoring total control over your workflow.
