The Post-Update Interruption
Microsoft frequently pushes major feature updates to Windows 11. Often, after one of these updates installs and you restart your PC, you are not immediately taken to your desktop. Instead, the operating system hijacks your screen with a massive, full-screen prompt titled “Let’s finish setting up your PC” or “Get the most out of Windows.” These screens are essentially advertisements, aggressively pushing you to sign up for Microsoft 365, link your Android phone, or switch your default browser to Edge. If you want your computer to boot directly to the desktop without marketing interruptions, you must kill this trigger.
How to Disable “Get the Most Out of Windows”
You can permanently sever the operating system’s ability to spawn these full-screen marketing overlays via the System Notifications settings.
- Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
- In the left-hand sidebar, ensure you are on the System tab.
- Click on Notifications.
- Scroll all the way down to the very bottom of the Notifications page and click to expand Additional settings.
- Uncheck the box labeled “Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows and finish setting up this device.”
- While here, also uncheck the box labeled “Get tips and suggestions when I use Windows.”
A Clean Boot Process
The change takes effect instantly. Windows 11 will completely terminate the background daemon responsible for analyzing your account setup completion percentage. The operating system is now legally and technically barred from intercepting your boot sequence. Following the next major Windows Update, your computer will completely bypass the aggressive full-screen onboarding prompts and immediately drop you onto your desktop, guaranteeing a professional and interruption-free workflow.
