The Intrusive Advertisements
To help users transition to the new operating system, Windows 11 includes a feature that constantly monitors how you use your computer. Based on your activity, it routinely generates pop-up notifications in the bottom-right corner of your screen labeled “Tips” or “Suggestions.” However, these notifications are rarely helpful. They are frequently used by Microsoft to aggressively recommend that you switch your default browser to Microsoft Edge, or to advertise new features in Microsoft 365. If you are a veteran PC user who simply wants to do your work without being advertised to by your own operating system, you must disable the suggestion engine.
How to Turn Off Tips and Suggestions
You can permanently silence the Windows tip system via the notification settings.
- Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on System.
- In the main window, click on Notifications.
- Scroll all the way down to the absolute bottom of the page.
- Click on the section labeled Additional settings to expand it.
- You will see three checkboxes. Find the one labeled “Get tips and suggestions when I use Windows.”
- Click the checkbox to completely remove the checkmark.
A Professional Workspace
The change is absolute and instantaneous. Windows 11 will immediately shut down the background telemetry script that monitors your usage for tips. The operating system will never again interrupt your workflow to suggest you try a new Microsoft product, restoring your desktop to a clean, professional environment.
