Google’s “Find My Device” is a crucial security feature that allows you to locate, ring, lock, or completely wipe your Android smartphone remotely if it is ever lost or stolen. It utilizes a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi scanning, and a crowdsourced network of other Android devices to pinpoint your phone’s location. Disable Find My Device via Security Settings
Turning off Find My Device requires revoking its device administrator privileges and disabling the tracking service at the Google Play Services level.
- Open the main Settings app on your Android device.
- Scroll down and tap on Security & privacy.
- Tap on Device finders (on some devices, this may just be listed as “Find My Device” directly under the Security menu).
- Tap on Find My Device.
