The Visual Tracking Vector
As monitor resolutions continue to increase, hitting 4K and beyond, the default Windows 11 mouse cursor becomes incredibly tiny and difficult to track. If you are presenting to a room full of people, or if you simply have visual impairments, constantly losing your pointer against a white background or a busy spreadsheet is highly frustrating. You do not need to download third-party customization software to solve this; Windows includes powerful, native scaling tools.
How to Change the Cursor Size
You can dynamically scale the cursor to massive proportions and change its color to ensure high visibility.
1. Open the Start Menu and click the Settings gear icon (or press the Windows Key + I).
2. In the left-hand sidebar, click on Accessibility.
3. In the main pane, under the “Vision” section, click on Mouse pointer and touch.
4. At the top of the window, you will see a slider labelled Size. Click and drag this slider to the right to dynamically increase the size of the cursor. The change happens instantly as you move the slider.
5. Directly above the slider, you will see the Mouse pointer style options. You can select the standard white, high-contrast black, inverted, or the final option: Custom.
6. If you click Custom, a color palette will appear, allowing you to turn the massive cursor bright neon green or pink for maximum visibility during presentations.
These accessibility changes are saved instantly and apply globally across the entire operating system and all third-party applications.
