How to Automatically Forward Emails from Specific Senders in Gmail

If you receive important emails from specific clients, automated systems, or family members, you might want to automatically forward them to another email address. Instead of manually forwarding every message, Gmail allows you to set up powerful filters that handle this for you automatically.

Step 1: Add a Forwarding Address

Before you can automatically forward emails, you need to verify the destination address.

  1. Open Gmail and click the Gear icon (Settings) in the top right.
  2. Click See all settings.
  3. Navigate to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. Click Add a forwarding address.
  5. Enter the email address you want to forward messages to and click Next.
  6. A verification email will be sent to that address. The owner must click the link to confirm.

Step 2: Create the Filter

Once the address is verified, you can set up the specific rule.

  1. In the Gmail search bar at the top, click the Show search options icon (it looks like three sliders).
  2. In the From field, type the email address of the specific sender.
  3. Click Create filter at the bottom of the dropdown.
  4. Check the box next to Forward it to: and select your verified forwarding address from the dropdown list.
  5. Click Create filter.

From now on, any new email matching that specific sender will be automatically forwarded to your designated address without you having to lift a finger!
