Google Chrome features a proactive Performance Issue Alerts system designed to inform users when specific browser tabs are consuming an excessive amount of CPU or RAM. When a tab hogs system resources, Chrome places a small “Performance issue” icon next to your profile picture in the toolbar, prompting you to review the offending tab and either discard it or ignore the warning.
While this feature is intended to help users maintain a smooth browsing experience, the constant visual alerts can be highly intrusive. If you intentionally leave heavy web applications, such as video editors, browser-based games, or massive Google Sheets open, Chrome will persistently flag them as performance issues. If you are fully aware of your system’s resource usage and prefer not to be constantly warned by the browser, you can completely disable Performance Issue Alerts.

How to Turn Off ‘Performance Issue Alerts’ in Google Chrome
Google allows you to disable these proactive notifications directly from the Chrome Performance settings menu, keeping your toolbar clean and distraction-free.
- Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.
- Click on the three-dot menu icon located in the top-right corner of the browser window.
- Select Settings from the drop-down list.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on Performance.
- Locate the Performance issue alerts section (usually found under the General performance heading).
- Toggle the switch to the Off position.
