How to Stop Google Chrome from Automatically Filling Forms

The Presumptive Input

Google Chrome includes a robust Autofill feature designed to save you time during online checkouts and registrations. By default, Chrome will actively scan web pages for input fields resembling names, phone numbers, and physical addresses. When you click on one of these fields, Chrome automatically produces a drop-down menu suggesting your saved personal information. If you select it, Chrome instantly fills out the entire form. While convenient on trusted sites, it can be a privacy concern on unfamiliar websites, and it is highly frustrating if Chrome keeps incorrectly guessing the data you want to input, forcing you to manually delete its automated entries.

Disabling Address Autofill

To maintain manual control over your data entry and stop Google Chrome from automatically filling forms or suggesting your personal information, you must disable the address Autofill setting.

Open Google Chrome. Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the browser and select Settings. In the left-hand navigation menu, click on Autofill and passwords. In the main central panel, locate and click on the option labelled Addresses and more. At the very top of this menu, you will see a toggle switch next to the phrase Save and fill addresses (this setting encompasses phone numbers and emails as well). Click this toggle switch so that it turns grey (Off). Chrome will immediately stop prompting you with your saved personal data when you encounter web forms, ensuring that nothing is entered unless you type it yourself.
