As you navigate the internet, you will inevitably stumble across incredibly useful websites—a recipe for a perfect chocolate cake, a complex tutorial on tax law, or an online store selling the exact pair of shoes you want to buy next month. The internet is vast, and relying on your memory or hoping you can replicate the exact Google search that got you there is a recipe for frustration.
Every modern web browser includes a feature designed specifically to solve this problem: Bookmarks. A bookmark is simply a saved shortcut to a specific webpage. When you bookmark a page, Google Chrome saves its exact URL. Months later, you can return to that exact page with a single click.

How to Add a Bookmark
Adding a bookmark in Google Chrome is incredibly fast and requires only a single click.
- Open Google Chrome and navigate to the specific webpage you want to save.
- Look at the very far right side of the address bar (the long white box at the top of the browser where the URL is displayed). You will see a small outline of a Star icon.
- Click the Star icon.
- The star will instantly turn solid blue, and a small “Bookmark added” dialog box will drop down.
- By default, Chrome will name the bookmark based on the website’s title and save it to a general folder. If you are satisfied with this, you can simply click Done (or click anywhere else on the screen). The page is now saved.
How to View Your Bookmarks
Once you have saved a few bookmarks, you need to know how to find them again.
The easiest way to access your saved pages is to enable the Bookmarks Bar. This is a dedicated horizontal strip that sits permanently just below the address bar, displaying your most important shortcuts as clickable buttons.
- To enable the Bookmarks Bar, click the three vertical dots in the extreme top right corner of the Chrome window.
- Hover your mouse over Bookmarks and lists.
- From the expanded menu, click on Show bookmarks bar.
- A new gray bar will appear below your address bar containing your saved links. You can now click any link to instantly jump to that webpage.
If you have saved dozens or hundreds of bookmarks, they will not all fit on the Bookmarks Bar. To view your entire collection, click the three vertical dots, hover over Bookmarks and lists, and click Bookmark manager. This opens a dedicated page where you can search through your massive archive of saved sites.
