By default, many Android phones only show a small battery icon in the status bar, giving you a rough estimate of how much juice is left. If you prefer to know exactly how much power you have remaining, turning on the battery percentage display is highly recommended. Because Android interfaces vary depending on the manufacturer, the exact location of this setting can differ slightly, but it is usually easy to find. Here is how to turn on the battery percentage on your Android device.
For Google Pixel and Standard Android Devices
If you are using a Google Pixel, a Motorola, or another phone running a stock or near-stock version of Android, follow these steps:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap on Battery.
- Look for the option labeled Battery percentage.
- Toggle the switch ON. The exact percentage will immediately appear next to or inside the battery icon in your top status bar.
For Samsung Galaxy Devices
Samsung uses its own One UI interface, so the setting is located in a slightly different menu:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Notifications.
- Select Advanced settings.
- Find the Show battery percentage option and toggle it ON.
What If You Can’t Find the Setting?
If your phone is made by another manufacturer (like OnePlus, Xiaomi, or Oppo) and the steps above don’t match your menus, the easiest way to find the setting is to use the search feature:
- Open your Settings app and tap the search bar or magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen.
- Type “Battery percentage” into the search bar.
- Tap the corresponding search result, and it will take you directly to the correct toggle switch to enable it.
