Many Android smartphones, particularly those running Samsung’s One UI, include a haptic feedback feature tied to phone calls. When you dial a number and hold the phone to your ear, the device will automatically and forcefully vibrate the exact moment the person on the other end picks up the phone.
The intended purpose of this feature is to let you hold the phone away from your face while it rings, and rely on the physical vibration to tell you when the call has connected. However, if you already have the phone pressed against your ear, a sudden, violent vibration buzzing directly against your skull is incredibly jarring and uncomfortable.
If you find this haptic feedback annoying, you can easily disable the call connection vibration.
How to Turn Off Call Answer Vibration (Samsung)
This setting is typically buried inside the Phone app’s alert settings.
- Open the default Phone app (the dialer) on your Samsung Galaxy device.
- Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Look for an option labeled Call alerts and ringtone (or similar, depending on your Android version).
- In the “Call alerts” section, look for the toggle switch labeled Vibrate when answered.
- Turn this toggle switch to the Off position.
- (Optional) While you are in this menu, you may also want to turn off Vibrate when call ends to stop the phone from buzzing when the other person hangs up.
Once disabled, your phone calls will connect silently and smoothly, without any abrupt haptic shocks to your ear.
