On modern Android smartphones utilizing gesture navigation, Google Assistant is deeply integrated into the user interface. By default, swiping diagonally upward from either the bottom-left or bottom-right corner of the screen instantly invokes the Assistant, freezing your current app and throwing a glowing bar across the bottom of the display. Disable the Corner Swipe Gesture
To stop the operating system from interpreting diagonal corner swipes as an Assistant invocation command, we must modify the core gesture navigation settings.
- Open the main Settings app on your Android smartphone.
- Scroll down and tap on System.
- Tap on Gestures (on some devices, this might be under “System navigation”).
- Tap on System navigation.
- Ensure Gesture navigation is selected, then tap the small gear icon (settings) located to the right of it.

Verify the Gesture Lockdown
