How to View Your Full App Download History on iPhone

Whether you are trying to find an old game you deleted years ago, attempting to redownload an app that was removed from the main storefront, or simply checking to see exactly what software is tied to your Apple ID, knowing how to access your App Store history is incredibly useful.

Apple keeps a permanent, comprehensive record of every single application you have ever downloaded (even the free ones) dating back to the very first day you created your Apple ID account.

This guide explains how to view your full app download history and redownload previously purchased apps on your iPhone.

How to Access Your App Store Purchase History

Despite the name “Purchased,” this list contains both paid applications and free applications.

  1. Open the App Store app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on your Profile Picture (or the default silhouette icon) located in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. In the Account menu, tap on Apps (on older versions of iOS, this button was labeled Purchased).
  4. If you are part of an Apple Family Sharing group, tap on My Apps. If you are not in a Family Sharing group, you will automatically be taken to the list.

Navigating Your Download History

Once you are in the “My Apps” section, you will see two tabs at the top of the screen: All and Not on this iPhone.

  • All: This tab displays a chronological list of every app you have ever downloaded, starting with the most recent. This includes apps currently installed on your phone.
  • Not on this iPhone: This is arguably the more useful tab. It filters the list to only show apps that are tied to your Apple ID but are not currently installed on the device you are holding. This is perfect for finding old apps you previously deleted.

How to Redownload an Old App

To reinstall an app from your history, you do not need to visit its main store page.

  1. Scroll through the list (or use the Search bar at the top if you remember the name) to find the app you want to reinstall.
  2. Tap the Cloud icon with a downward arrow next to the app’s name.
  3. The app will immediately begin downloading to your iPhone’s home screen or App Library.

Can You Delete Apps From Your History?

You cannot permanently delete an app from your Apple ID purchase history. However, you can hide an app so it no longer appears in this list.

To hide an app, simply swipe left on the app’s name in the “My Apps” list and tap the red Hide button. This is useful for removing clutter, hiding apps you regret downloading, or keeping certain downloads private from family members who share your account.
