Reachability is an iOS feature designed to make large iPhones easier to use with one hand by bringing the top of the screen down. However, many users find themselves triggering it accidentally when swiping near the bottom edge of the screen. This guide explains how to completely disable Reachability system-wide on your iPhone.
Why Disable Reachability?
Accidental activation of Reachability can be highly disruptive, especially during fast-paced activities like gaming, typing quickly, or scrolling through social media. If you have large hands or simply never use the feature, turning it off prevents the screen from jarringly sliding downward when you don’t expect it.
Disable Reachability in Settings
You can turn off this feature directly within the iOS Accessibility settings by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
- Under the “Physical and Motor” section, tap on Touch.
- Locate the Reachability toggle switch.
- Tap the switch to turn it Off (the switch will turn gray).
Once disabled, swiping down on the bottom edge of your screen (or double-tapping the Home button on older models) will no longer trigger the Reachability view, giving you a more predictable iOS experience.
