How to Hide the Hidden Photo Album on iPhone

The Privacy Exposure Vector

The iPhone Photos app features a dedicated “Hidden” album, designed to let you remove sensitive or private photographs from your primary camera roll. However, prior to recent iOS updates, Apple placed the link to this Hidden album directly in plain sight on the main Utilities menu of the Photos app. Anyone casually scrolling through your albums could clearly see the “Hidden” button, completely defeating the purpose of hiding the photos in the first place.

How to Hide the Hidden Album

You can instruct the iOS operating system to completely eradicate the “Hidden” album link from the Photos app interface, ensuring the folder is completely invisible to casual observers.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down the main list until you find the Photos settings menu and tap on it.
3. Scroll down to the middle of this menu.
4. Locate the toggle switch labelled Show Hidden Album.
5. Tap the toggle to switch it to the Off position (the switch will turn grey).

The next time you open the Photos app and navigate to the Albums tab, the “Hidden” folder will be completely gone from the Utilities list at the bottom. Your private photos remain securely stored on the device, but the only way to view them again is to return to the Settings app and toggle the feature back on.
