The Unwanted Therapy
Apple includes a dedicated “Mindfulness” app on the Apple Watch, designed to help users reduce stress through guided breathing exercises. To encourage usage, the watch periodically vibrates and displays a massive “Time to Breathe” notification directly on your wrist, instructing you to stop what you are doing and inhale deeply for one minute. If you are in the middle of a high-pressure business meeting, driving in heavy traffic, or simply have zero interest in guided meditation, having your watch repeatedly buzz you to tell you to breathe is incredibly irritating. You must completely disable the reminder schedule.
How to Turn Off Breathe Reminders
You must sever the Mindfulness app’s ability to send alerts using the companion Watch app on your iPhone.
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Ensure you are on the My Watch tab at the bottom left.
- Scroll down the main list and tap on Mindfulness.
- Under the “Reminders” section, locate the toggle switches for “Start of Day” and “End of Day,” and turn them Off.
- More importantly, tap on Add Reminder and delete any custom scheduled times you may have accidentally created.
- Finally, under the notification settings at the top, select Notifications Off.
Uninterrupted Focus
The change takes effect instantly. The Apple Watch will completely terminate the background chronological timer associated with the Mindfulness app. The watch will never again randomly tap your wrist to demand a breathing session. The Mindfulness app itself remains fully functional; you can still open it manually from the app grid whenever you actually want to meditate, but it will never interrupt your day again.
