The Review Interruption Vector
Developers rely heavily on App Store ratings to promote their software. Consequently, iOS developers frequently program their applications to trigger aggressive, pop-up dialogue boxes asking you to rate their app or leave a review. These prompts almost always occur while you are actively using the application—interrupting a game, pausing a video, or blocking a vital piece of information. For users who prefer a seamless experience, these constant solicitations are infuriating.
How to Stop Apps from Requesting Ratings
Apple provides a master system-level toggle that legally prevents any application from displaying these review prompts on your screen.
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
2. Scroll down until you find the App Store settings menu and tap on it.
3. Scroll down through this menu to the section concerning automatic downloads and reviews.
4. Locate the toggle switch labelled In-App Ratings & Reviews.
5. Tap the toggle to switch it to the Off position (the switch will turn grey).
Once this master switch is flipped, iOS will automatically intercept and block all future review requests in the background. You can continue to use all your applications completely uninterrupted.
