How to Disable the “Send to your devices” Context Menu in Google Chrome

The Cluttered Context Menu

Google Chrome heavily utilizes its sync engine to connect all your devices. One of the features this enables is “Send to your devices.” If you are signed into Chrome on your laptop and your smartphone, right-clicking on any hyperlink or anywhere on a webpage will present an option to “Send link to [Phone Name].” While this is occasionally useful for pushing a long article to your phone for later reading, it adds unnecessary bulk and visual clutter to the primary right-click context menu, especially if you never use the feature and prefer a minimalist interface.

Removing the Send Option

To clean up your right-click menu and completely disable the “Send to your devices” feature in Google Chrome, you must modify the browser’s hidden experimental flags.

Open a new tab in your Google Chrome browser. Click into the address bar, type exactly chrome://flags, and press Enter to load the internal experiments page. At the top of this page is a search box. Type Send tab to self into the search field (this is the internal development name for the feature). You will likely see a flag explicitly named Enable send tab to self or Send tab to self V2. Click the dropdown menu located to the right of this flag (which is usually set to “Default”) and change the setting to Disabled. A blue button labelled Relaunch will appear in the bottom right corner of the window. Click it to restart Chrome. When the browser reopens, the “Send to your devices” option will be permanently removed from all context menus.
