In Windows 11, pressing the Windows Key + F immediately launches the “Feedback Hub” application and automatically takes a screenshot of your current desktop, preparing to send a bug report to Microsoft. While useful for Windows Insiders actively testing beta software, this shortcut is entirely useless for average users.
Because the “F” key is located in the middle of the keyboard, it is incredibly easy to press this shortcut by accident when attempting to press Windows Key + D (Show Desktop) or Windows Key + R (Run Dialog). If you are playing a game or watching a movie, the sudden appearance of the Feedback Hub completely disrupts your experience. To prevent these accidents, you can completely unbind the shortcut.
How to Disable the Windows Key + F Shortcut
You must use Microsoft’s official PowerToys utility to intercept and nullify the shortcut.
- Download and install Microsoft PowerToys from the Microsoft Store or GitHub.
- Launch the PowerToys application from your Start menu.
- In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Keyboard Manager.
- Ensure the “Enable Keyboard Manager” toggle switch is turned On.
- Click the Remap a shortcut button in the main window.
- A new configuration window will appear. Click the plus (+) icon to create a new rule.
- Under the “Shortcut” column on the left, click the Type button and press Windows Key + F.
- Under the “Mapped To” column on the right, click the drop-down menu and select Disable from the very top of the list.
- Click OK at the top right of the window.
The shortcut is now dead. As long as the PowerToys utility is running in the background, pressing Windows Key + F will do absolutely nothing, ensuring you never accidentally trigger a bug report to Microsoft again.
