Battery Saver (or Low Power Mode) is a core Android feature that extends your smartphone’s battery life when it drops below a certain threshold (usually 15% or 20%). When activated, it aggressively alters system behaviour: it throttles the CPU, turns off 5G, disables background app refresh, turns the screen to Dark Mode, and limits visual animations. While this helps your phone survive until you reach a charger, it severely cripples performance. If you are a power user who requires your device to run at absolute maximum capacity until the moment it dies (e.g., rendering video, gaming, or continuous GPS navigation), this automatic throttling is unacceptable.
This guide explains how to completely disable Battery Saver mode system-wide on your Android smartphone so that it never activates automatically.
Disable Automatic Battery Saver via Settings
To ensure your smartphone prioritizes raw performance over longevity, you must disable the automatic triggering threshold in the battery menu.
- Open the main Settings app on your Android smartphone.
- Scroll down and tap on Battery.
- Tap on Battery Saver (on Samsung Galaxy devices, tap “Power saving”).
- First, ensure the master toggle at the top (named “Use Battery Saver” or similar) is set to the Off (grey) position.
- Next, locate the section labelled Set a schedule (or “Turn on automatically”). Tap on it.
- Select the radio button next to No schedule (or toggle the switch to the Off position).
- If you see a toggle for Turn off when fully charged, disable it as well to completely decouple the feature from the charging cycle.
