How to Prevent Windows 11 from Automatically Installing Clipchamp

The Bloatware Frustration

With recent updates to Windows 11, Microsoft has taken an aggressive approach to integrating its own first-party applications directly into the operating system. One of the most prominent examples is Clipchamp, a cloud-based video editing tool that Microsoft acquired and now pushes to users via silent background installations. Even if you manually uninstall the application from the Start Menu, the Windows update mechanism or the Microsoft Store background service will often reinstall it without your permission during routine system maintenance.

Blocking the Installation

To permanently stop Windows 11 from silently downloading and installing Clipchamp, you must block the application using the Windows Registry. Press the Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CloudContent. If the CloudContent key does not exist, right-click the Windows folder, select New, then Key, and name it CloudContent.

Within the CloudContent folder, right-click on the right pane, select New, and choose DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name this new value DisableWindowsConsumerFeatures. Double-click your newly created value and set the Value data to 1. Click OK, close the Registry Editor, and restart your computer. This enterprise-level policy prevents the operating system from automatically pushing consumer applications, including Clipchamp, onto your machine.
