How to Turn Off Narrator in Windows 11

Narrator is the built-in screen-reading application in Windows 11. It is designed to help visually impaired users navigate their computer by reading text, buttons, and system notifications aloud. While it is an essential accessibility tool, accidentally turning Narrator on can be a jarring experience. The robotic voice will immediately start reading everything on your screen, and a blue highlight box will follow your mouse cursor. If you have triggered Narrator by mistake, usually by hitting an accidental keyboard shortcut, Windows 11 provides several easy ways to silence it and turn it off completely.

Method 1: Use the Keyboard Shortcut

The fastest way to turn Narrator off is by using the exact same keyboard shortcut that likely turned it on in the first place.

1. Look at your keyboard and locate the following three keys: Windows Key, Ctrl, and Enter.
2. Press and hold the Windows Key and the Ctrl key simultaneously.
3. While holding those two down, press the Enter key once.

Method 2: Use the Settings App
