How to View Saved Wi-Fi Passwords in Windows 11

If you have been connected to your home Wi-Fi network for years but suddenly need the password to connect a new smart TV or a guest’s smartphone, digging through your drawers to find the router’s original sticker is frustrating. Fortunately, Windows 11 securely saves the password for every network you have ever connected to, and you can easily reveal these passwords directly from the Settings app.

How to Find Your Current Wi-Fi Password

If you are currently connected to the network you need the password for, you can find it in seconds.

  1. Open the Settings app (press Windows Key + I).
  2. Click on Network & internet in the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Click on Wi-Fi in the main window.
  4. Click on your current network’s name to open its properties page.
  5. Scroll down the page until you find the section labelled Wi-Fi security key.
  6. Click the View button next to the hidden password.

A small security prompt will appear asking for your computer’s PIN or administrator password. Once authenticated, the network password will instantly appear in plain text.

How to Find Passwords for Past Networks

If you need the password for a coffee shop or a friend’s house you visited last week, you can still retrieve it.

  1. Go back to the main Network & internet page and click on Wi-Fi.
  2. Click on Manage known networks.
  3. You will see a list of every network your PC remembers. Click on the specific network name you need.
  4. Under the “Wi-Fi security key” section, click View and enter your PIN to reveal the saved password.
