How to Stop Windows 11 from Automatically Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks

Windows 11 remembers networks you have connected to previously and will automatically reconnect if they are in range. This is a security risk if the network is public or compromised.

How to Stop Automatic Connections

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar, then click the arrow next to the Wi-Fi symbol.
  2. Right-click the network you want to modify and select Properties.
  3. Under the “Connect automatically when in range” setting, toggle the switch to Off.
