How to Change Your Wallpaper in Windows 11

The default blue “bloom” wallpaper in Windows 11 is iconic, but staring at the exact same background every single day gets boring quickly. Customizing your desktop is the easiest way to make your computer feel like it actually belongs to you.

Whether you want to use a family photo, a minimalist digital painting, or a rotating slideshow of stunning landscapes provided by Microsoft, here is exactly how to change your wallpaper in Windows 11.

Method 1: The Quick Right-Click Method

If you already have the perfect photo saved on your hard drive, you can set it as your wallpaper in two seconds without ever opening the Settings menu.

1. Open File Explorer (press Windows Key + E).
2. Navigate to the folder where your image is saved (e.g., your Downloads or Pictures folder).
3. Right-click on the image file.
4. Select Set as desktop background from the context menu.

Your screen will instantly update. If the image looks stretched or pixelated, it means the photo’s resolution does not match your monitor. In that case, you need to use the advanced settings below to adjust the fit.
