How to Disable the Windows 10 ‘Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows’ Option

Unwanted System Advice

As you navigate Windows 10, you might occasionally see pop-up notifications near the taskbar, or suggestions appearing directly within the Settings app and Start Menu. These might suggest that you try using the Edge browser, recommend a specific Windows feature, or offer a “tip” on how to organize your desktop. Windows powers these notifications through a built-in feature designed to help new users learn the operating system.

However, for experienced users, these tips quickly transition from helpful to annoying. They can act as disguised advertisements for Microsoft services (like OneDrive or Office 365) and interrupt your workflow with unnecessary information. If you already know how to use your computer and prefer a silent, ad-free operating system experience, you can turn off these system-generated suggestions entirely.

How to Disable Windows Tips and Tricks

You can turn off these notifications in the system Settings.

  1. Click the Start button and select the Settings gear icon (or press Windows Key + I).
  2. In the main Settings menu, click on System.
  3. In the left-hand navigation pane, select Notifications & actions.
  4. Scroll down the right-hand pane to the section labelled “Notifications.”
  5. Look through the list of checkboxes for the option labelled Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows.
  6. Uncheck the box next to this option.
  7. (Optional but recommended) While you are there, also uncheck Show me the Windows welcome experience… and Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device… to further reduce unwanted system prompts.

Windows 10 will immediately stop generating these pop-up tips and “feature suggestions,” resulting in a quieter and less intrusive desktop environment.
