The Persistent Diagnostic Warning
The Microsoft System Configuration utility (commonly known as MSConfig) is a powerful legacy tool used to troubleshoot the Windows boot process, allowing administrators to perform “Selective” or “Diagnostic” startups by disabling third-party services. However, a highly irritating quirk of this tool is that once you make a change—such as disabling a problematic service to test system stability—Windows 11 will aggressively prompt you with a persistent popup warning upon every subsequent reboot. This dialogue box reminds you that you are running in a diagnostic state, forcing you to manually click “OK” before you can fully access your desktop.
Silencing the Startup Reminder
To stop Windows 11 from constantly nagging you about your custom boot configuration, you must check a specific, easily overlooked box within the MSConfig utility itself before you apply your changes.
Press the Windows Key, type msconfig, and press Enter to launch the System Configuration tool. Make your necessary diagnostic adjustments (for example, navigating to the “Services” tab, checking “Hide all Microsoft services,” and unchecking a conflicting application). Before you click “OK” to exit and reboot, look very closely at the bottom of the “General” tab. You will see a small checkbox labelled Don’t show this message or launch the System Configuration utility when Windows starts. You must check this box. If you have already rebooted and are currently seeing the prompt on your desktop, look for the same checkbox on the popup window itself, check it, and click OK. Windows 11 will respect your custom diagnostic boot parameters but will remain completely silent during startup, allowing you to troubleshoot in peace.
