The Settings Advertisements
In its aggressive push to monetize the operating system, Microsoft has begun integrating advertisements directly into the core configuration menus of Windows 11. Known officially as “Suggested Content,” these ads appear randomly while you are navigating the Settings app, pushing you to sign up for Microsoft 365, switch to the Edge browser, or link your mobile phone. For IT professionals and power users who view the Settings app as a strict, utilitarian configuration tool, these marketing banners are highly intrusive. You must permanently silence this internal ad engine.
How to Disable Suggested Content in Settings
You can permanently banish these native advertisements via the Privacy settings.
- Click the Start Menu and type Settings, or press the Windows Key + I.
- In the left-hand sidebar, click on Privacy & security.
- Under the “Windows permissions” section, click on General.
- Locate the toggle switch labeled “Show me suggested content in the Settings app.”
- Toggle this switch to the Off position.
A Utilitarian Interface
The change takes effect instantly. Windows 11 will completely terminate the background daemon responsible for querying Microsoft’s advertising servers while you navigate the configuration menus. The Settings app will immediately revert to a strict, functional utility. It will absolutely refuse to render promotional banners, Microsoft 365 upsells, or cross-platform marketing overlays, guaranteeing a professional, distraction-free environment while you manage your operating system.
