Microsoft Edge includes a built-in shopping assistant that constantly monitors the websites you visit. If you navigate to an e-commerce site like Amazon, Best Buy, or Target, Edge will automatically slide a prominent blue tag out from the address bar, alerting you that it has found “available coupons” or price comparison data for the item you are currently viewing.
While this can occasionally save you a few dollars, it is primarily a distraction. For many users, having the browser constantly inject flashing price tags and promotional codes into the UI makes the browsing experience feel cheap and cluttered. Furthermore, scanning every product page you visit requires Microsoft to collect additional telemetry data regarding your shopping habits.
You can completely disable Edge’s shopping features to restore a clean, minimalist browsing experience.
How to Turn Off Shopping Features in Edge
You can disable the coupon suggestions in the Privacy settings.
- Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
- Click the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll down almost to the very bottom of the page until you find the section labeled “Services.”
- Look for the toggle switch labeled Save time and money with Shopping in Microsoft Edge.
- Turn this toggle to the Off position.
Edge will instantly stop scanning your e-commerce tabs. The browser will no longer inject coupon codes or price comparison popups into the address bar, allowing you to shop in peace without aggressive Microsoft upselling.
