How to Save All Open Tabs as a Bookmark Group in Google Chrome

When you are deeply involved in a research project, comparing products for an upcoming purchase, or planning a complex vacation, you can easily end up with dozens of tabs open in Google Chrome simultaneously. If you need to shut down your computer or simply want to save your progress for later, bookmarking each tab individually is an incredibly tedious process. Fortunately, Google Chrome includes a hidden, time-saving feature that allows you to bookmark every single open tab in your current window at once, saving them all neatly into a dedicated folder.

How to Bookmark All Open Tabs at Once

To capture your entire browsing session in seconds, follow these steps:

1. Ensure that the only tabs open in your current Google Chrome window are the ones you actually want to save. If you have unrelated tabs open, drag them out into a new, separate window first.
2. Look at the very top of your Chrome window, to the right of your open tabs. Right-click on any empty space in the Tab bar. Alternatively, you can right-click on any individual tab itself.
3. From the context menu that appears, select Bookmark all tabs…. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + D (Windows/Linux) or Command + Shift + D (Mac).
4. A new “Bookmark All Tabs” dialog box will pop up on your screen.
5. In the “Name” field, type a descriptive name for the new folder that will be created (e.g., “Paris Vacation Research” or “Laptop Comparisons”).
6. Select the location where you want this new folder to be saved (such as the Bookmarks Bar or Other Bookmarks).
7. Click the blue Save button.

How to Reopen Your Saved Tabs Later

Once you are ready to resume your research, reopening that massive batch of tabs is just as easy as saving them.

1. Open a new Google Chrome window.
2. Locate the bookmark folder you created earlier (either on your Bookmarks Bar or by clicking the three-dot menu ... > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark manager).
3. Right-click on the folder.
4. Select Open all to launch every saved page simultaneously. If you prefer to keep your current window clean, you can select Open all in new window instead.
