How to Convert an Image to Text Using Google Keep

Google Keep has a fantastic, lesser-known feature built right into it: Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This allows you to extract editable text from any image or screenshot.

How to Extract Text from an Image

  1. Open Google Keep (on mobile or desktop) and create a new note with an image, or open an existing note with an image.
  2. Click on the image to view it.
  3. Click the three vertical dots (More options) menu.
  4. Select Grab image text. The extracted text will be pasted directly into the note’s body below the image.
