How to Safely Erase Google Chrome ‘Site Specific Cookies’ (Delete Data for Only One Website)

If a specific website (like your bank or a news portal) suddenly breaks, refuses to load, or traps you in an endless login loop, the standard advice is to “Clear your cookies.” The problem is, if you click the big “Clear browsing data” button in Google Chrome’s settings, it destroys the cookies for every website.

You will instantly be logged out of YouTube, Amazon, Facebook, and every other site on the internet, forcing you to spend the next hour typing in passwords and two-factor authentication codes. You do not need to use the nuclear option. You can safely target and erase the specific, corrupted cookies for just one single website without touching anything else.

How to Safely Erase Google Chrome Site-Specific Cookies

You must use Chrome’s granular site settings menu to isolate and destroy the corrupted data.

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser.
  2. Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  3. In the left-hand navigation sidebar, click on Privacy and security.
  4. In the main window, click on Site settings.
  5. Scroll down and click on Additional content settings to expand the list, then click on Site data (or Cookies and site data depending on your Chrome version).
  6. Click on See all site data and permissions.
  7. You are now looking at a master list of every website that has stored data on your PC. Use the Search bar in the top right to search for the specific broken website (e.g., netflix.com).
  8. The list will filter down to show only that specific website.
  9. Click the Trash Can icon right next to the website’s name.
  10. Click Clear to confirm.

Chrome has instantly and surgically erased all tracking cookies, local storage, and cached logins for that specific domain. Go back to the broken website and refresh the page; it will load fresh, as if you are visiting it for the very first time, while your logins for the rest of the internet remain perfectly intact.
