How to Disable Contact Sharing Across Your Workspace Domain in Google Contacts

When you are administering a Google Workspace environment, the Google Contacts engine is mathematically designed to automatically share and index every internal user profile into a global Directory. If your organization requires strict departmental segregation—or if you simply want to prevent your personal corporate contact profile from being auto-populated into the address book of every single employee—you must force the Workspace Admin console to disable Directory Sharing.

Executing the Global Directory Override (Workspace Admin)

You cannot execute this mathematical override from a standard Android device or a basic Gmail account. You must possess Super Administrator privileges to intercept and modify the global Workspace routing table.

1. Open a desktop web browser and navigate directly to the Google Workspace Admin Console (admin.google.com).
2. Authenticate using your Super Administrator credentials.
3. On the primary dashboard, look at the left-hand navigation matrix and click on Directory.

7. To execute the override, uncheck the box labeled “Enable contact sharing”.
8. The UI will instantly warn you that this action will permanently sever the auto-complete pipeline and the global address book for all users across the domain.
9. To mathematically lock this restriction into the Workspace architecture, click the Save button at the absolute bottom-right of the screen.

The exact millisecond you click save, the Google Workspace kernel intercepts the command and violently severs the internal synchronization matrix.
