When you are architecting an enterprise communication flow within Google Workspace and you must grant an administrative assistant or colleague absolute control over your address book without compromising your core account credentials, standard password sharing is a catastrophic security violation. To force the Google engine to execute a secure, cryptographic bridge—allowing a secondary account to algorithmically read, edit, and delete your contact nodes—you must deploy the Delegate Access vector.
Understanding the Delegation Architecture
Contact delegation is mathematically distinct from contact sharing. Sharing transmits a static copy of a data node. Delegation creates a live, bi-directional API link between your master address book and a designated secondary Google account within the same organizational matrix (Workspace domain).
Executing the Delegation Bridge
You must initialize this protocol from the desktop web interface. It cannot be executed via the mobile kernel.
- Open your desktop web browser and navigate to the Google Contacts interface.
- Ensure you are logged into your master Workspace account (the account that holds the data).
- Look at the absolute top-right corner of the screen and click the Settings icon (the geometric gear wheel).
- Select Delegate access from the drop-down menu.
- A complex modal window will spawn. Click the button labeled Invite delegate.
- The engine will demand the exact email address of the target assistant. (Critical Geometric Constraint: The target email address must algorithmically belong to the exact same Google Workspace domain as your master account. You cannot delegate access to a public @gmail.com address.)
- Type the exact email address and click Send.
Finalizing the Cryptographic Link
The Google kernel will instantly dispatch an automated email to the target assistant.
- The assistant must open that specific email and click the embedded cryptographic Accept link.
- The exact millisecond they accept, the Google engine fuses the bridge. When the assistant opens their own Google Contacts interface, they will now see a distinct, separate directory matrix explicitly labeled with your name. They can click into this matrix to algorithmically manage your contacts as if they were logged into your physical device.
